Good Sunday afternoon!
I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful weather. With how nice it is, it is hard to believe winter break is right around the corner!
I just wanted to take a second to remind everyone that the Wright City West Elementary Student Council is conducting a food drive. It will last until Thursday, December 14th. All donations will go to our backpack program which provides food to our families in need in our community. Items needed include: canned food, mac and cheese, chips/crackers, canned soup, oatmeal, granola bars, water bottles, etc. Students can bring in their supplies and turn them into their classroom teachers. Please consider donating to those in need in our community!
Have a great week! As always it’s great to be a Wildcat!

ABCs of Student Success
N is for “Nothing”!
Has your child ever responded with saying “nothing” when you asked them what they did at school that day? As a parent, I’m sure you want to know what is going on in school and what your child is doing each day. Linked below is an article from Edutopia on how to engage with your students and talk about their day in a deeper way. We know that sometimes our kids won’t open up right away when we ask, “How was your day?” This article provides some great ideas on how to draw out more information from your students, so you will know what is going on in school! The Weeks Ahead
We have a great experience for our students coming up that I am excited to share with you! The St. Louis Cardinals’ Fredbird and Friends Elementary School Program is coming to our school on Thursday, December 7th! This is a great character education based program that Fredbird and former Cardinals pitcher, Kyle McClellan will present! They will guide students to think about the question, "what makes a good teammate?" and promote the key messages of Be Active! Be Responsible! and Be Yourself! They will also talk about the benefits of being physically active and participating in extracurricular clubs and activities; valuing what makes them unique as well as the contributions of others; working together with peers, teachers, and family members; and seeking out help from the adults in their lives who can help them achieve their goals.
On this day let's show our Cardinals spirit, so please have your students wear St. Louis Cardinals or red shirts. And we apologize, but due to the capacity in our gym, this assembly is for our students and staff only. We will Facebook pictures and updates though!
Parent-Teacher Committee meeting
Our next Parent-Teacher Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, December 14th at 6:00 PM at West Elementary School. Please join us to learn about how we can work together to support our students’ success!
