Good morning Class of 2020 students, parents, and families,
We are a little more than two weeks away from the Wright City High School Class of 2020 Graduation ceremony scheduled for Friday July 10th, at 8pm at the high school stadium. Monday, I sent out an email to Seniors in regards to our graduation practice that will take place at 9am on Thursday July 9th. Below in parentheses is the information that was sent to students.
(The wait is almost over and graduation day will soon be at hand! But first we will need to practice. Practice will be held on Thursday July 9th at 9am on the track at the high school. You may park in the gravel or in the newly resurfaced student lot.
We will practice our processional, the ceremony, and the recessional at least a couple of times. We will also hand out your six allotted tickets at that time along with all of the medals and cords that you may have earned and will want to wear at graduation.
I can not stress enough the importance of being at practice and on time so that we can ensure that the ceremony runs as smoothly as possible and so that you can get your tickets for your family and or friends. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns with making it to practice on the 9th. I am very excited to honor this amazing class and can not wait to see you all soon!)
As far as graduation details, we have worked to create as open a ceremony as possible, but the current pandemic is still making it necessary to take extra precautions. As such, the ceremony will be limited to family and friends of the graduates, with each student receiving six tickets to the ceremony. We will strive to have a live video stream of the ceremony via facebook.
Seating for graduation is first come, first served, with gates opening at 6pm. Seating boxes of six chairs will be spaced across the football field with enough spacing to provide for social distancing. Families also have the ability to bid on one of two six person sets of front row seats that will benefit the WCHS scholarship fund.
Students will be socially distanced across the track facing the home stands where the podium will be located. Students will walk across the walkway of the home stands to be announced and receive their diploma. Wagner studios will be on hand to take photos of each graduate.
Parking will be available in the gravel lot by the concession stands and in the parking lot in front and on the side of the high school. Parking for those needing assistance will be available close to the stadium as will easy access seating for those folks for the ceremony.
Staff will take tickets at the main gate to the stadium. Parents / family, please remember to bring your tickets with you to the ceremony.
It is important that social distancing is practiced before and after the ceremony. We ask that family and students do not congregate in large groups before and after graduation. As far as the wearing of masks is concerned, this is a personal choice. As with any situation where you will be around others, we ask that persons experiencing symptoms related to COVID to please stay home.
We at Wright City High School are looking forward to celebrating this very special Senior class on their day and we ask for your help and cooperation with this process. As with any first time (and hopefully only time) situation there will be things that we will learn from the process. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

After receiving much feedback from students and parents by email and through our survey we have decided to move the Graduation ceremony to Friday July 10th at 8pm at the high school stadium. We have set Saturday July 11th as our rain date. We will communicate more details about the ceremony as we iron out logistical concerns.
We will also have a Senior Showcase week the week of May 18th - 22nd. We will share through social media specific elements of the senior showcase each day that we traditionally share in one night. We will be reaching out to students and parents with more details on the showcase days later this week and next.
Thank you to everyone who has shared their input on graduation and we are excited that we will soon be honoring our outstanding Wright City High School Class of 2020.
