Care to Learn

Care to Learn - Wright City was established in 2016 as the 28th Care to Learn Chapter. It currently serves students in partnership with the Wright City R-II School District.

In addition to providing health, hunger, and hygiene needs, the Chapter provides a backpack program for students.

The Wright City Chapter also partners with several organizations in the community to raise funds for students in need, including an annual trivia night.

ENDOWMENTS
Chester O. Hoefner Scholarships
A 1 million dollar endowment that provides 2 one-time $5,000 scholarships (one of which is preferred for a technical/trade school applicant) and a single renewable $10,000 scholarship annually.

George & Helen Duckworth Scholarship
This 2 million dollar endowment provides an annual scholarship at the amount of average tuition of state-funded universities in Missouri. The opportunity is not based on typical academic criteria, but rather a student’s unique desire to further their education but lack of financial resources to do so.

GRANTS
In the last eight years, the Wright City Foundation has awarded approximately $40K in classroom grants, for an average of $5,000 per year.

WCHS Scholarship Fund

Since 2000, the WCHS Scholarship Fund has been providing multiple renewable scholarships to deserving high school graduates in Wright City each year. As of 2023, a total of $932,250 has been provided to 448 students to assist in their ongoing education. The Wright City community has been very generous to raise these funds each year through the organization's annual Blue & Gold Dinner Auction event. The Blue & Gold Event is held annually on the third Saturday in March.

Wright City Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC)

The Wright City SEPAC was created in 2023 by district families who want to ensure that the needs of students with disabilities and/or unique learning needs are met. To improve educational outcomes and well- being for students. To aid in shaping the development of programs, services, and policies; as well as improve district culture around inclusion, and what inclusion truly means.

The SEPAC’s purpose is to advise, advocate, and offer guidance, not to determine policy. The goal of the SEPAC/District Partnership is to increase the involvement of families in district decisions by asking for their input.
