Operation Backpack
Many families in our community rely on the free or reduced-priced breakfast and lunch program to help provide nutritious meals for their children during the school year. Some of these families struggle to provide those same meals for their children over the weekend. Since 2012, Operation Backpack helps fill in the gap by providing backpacks full of nutritious, kid-friendly, non-perishable meals to be eaten over the weekend when resources may be limited. We utilize community and employee volunteers to fill bags every week. You can also help by conducting a “Backpack” food drive at your church, school or business to collect items needed to fill backpacks for hungry children in our community.
- Contact your school counselor for more information and to apply.
- Participation is kept confidential! The school nurse and the school counselor will be the only faculty/staff to identify Operation Backpack recipients.
