2011
Middle School Cheerleading Squad
The middle school was very lucky to have such a talented
cheerleading squad this year. The
interest in cheerleading has grown a lot over the years, and continues to. We had a squad of 18 girls and 1 boy, and
their hard work and dedication made them one of the best squads the middle
school has ever had!
2011 was the first year we were able to perform at football
games! We cheered at 2 football games,
and were a crowd favorite. The season
continued into the basketball season, when we cheered for 7th and 8th
grade girls and boys basketball. It was
a busy first semester, but the cheerleaders stayed focused and maintained their
positive attitudes throughout.
Because we had such a talented squad this year, the cheerleaders
were able to achieve new levels of stunting, jumps, and technique. They also made up their own cheers, chants,
and routines.
We are very proud of the squad we had this year, and we are
looking forward to seeing what next year brings!

The 2011
Wright City Middle School Boys Basketball Season was recently completed with a
good deal of success. Both boys teams, 7th and 8th grade,
played extremely hard and with a great deal of enthusiasm.
The 7th grade boys,
coached by Andrew Rudolph, played a very competitive schedule but that did not
deter them from giving their maximum effort every game they played. Even though
their record did not show success in the win column, their willingness to learn
and desire to get better made their season a success!! Kudos to the7th grade
boys’ team and Coach Rudolph for their determined effort all season. They will
only get better and they are looking forward improving their basketball skills
as 8th graders.
The 8th grade team,
coached by Dave Chapman, was an exciting team to watch this year. As the 7th
grade team did, the 8th grade team also played a competitive
schedule. At the end of the season, the 8th grade team could count
six wins in their win total, which made for an excellent year. Yes the team had a winning record, but the
biggest winners were the players themselves. Like the 7th graders,
the 8th grade boys played with enthusiasm, heart, and passion!! They
were a great group of boys to coach because they were willing to listen and
learn, and played as a team!! The 8th grade team has a bright future
ahead of them at the high school level. Congratulations 8th grade boys for
a great season!!!!

Luau Book Fair!
Preview day is Wednesday, February 1. Sales start on February 2 and end February 9.

This week my students have been
working on Discovering the Mood with Music. We have been listening to different
composers and genres of music and sketching while we listen. Each student will
be picking their favorite sketch and then we are going to add color and
actually use paint to convey the feeling of the piece to others. The Middle
School Choir has been working on “Rock Around the Clock” to be performed for
the PTO breakfast and tour this coming Tuesday. We have also started working on
music for our spring concert.
