Mrs. Barnhart’s Third Grade Class
Students have had a great first semester! We have learned so much and done some fun things along the way. In writing students are working on writing letters to different fairy tale characters. We will then use a program called Blabberize to bring their characters and letters to life. In math we are finishing up our unit on multiplication. We will be starting division after winter break. Students are working hard to earn their multiplication fact party at the end of the year. Please review multiplication facts with your child over winter break and throughout the rest of the year. We have covered many things in reading this year. We are currently working on visualizing when we read. Students have been drawing pictures of what they see in their heads while reading a chapter book. After break we will work on comparing and contrasting characters and author’s purpose. We will begin our second round of Aimsweb testing after break also. Please take the time to read with your child at night. In science we have been studying the Earth and rocks. Students enjoyed a unit about space and astronauts by reading a Magic Tree House Research Guide. In social studies students are working on reading maps and creating their own maps of imaginary communities and states. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.
