This past week East and West Elementary participated in Jump Rope for Heart activities in physical education classes. Students at East learned jumping skills without ropes first, and then practiced with their own individual ropes. They ended the week learning how to turn a long rope and how to jump in it. At West students practiced and learned various jump rope skills and techniques with individual, partner and group ropes. They also had a jump rope contest and played “Over the River”, a long jump contest. We also discussed heart rate and learned how to check your pulse.

The deadline for Jump Rope for Heart donations at West was 12/1, and students raised $1877.50!! East will begin collections 12/5-12/15. Any students at West still wishing to collect donations may do so until 12/15. So far, classes that have reached their goal and earned a popcorn party are Hammock, Lewis, Curran, Kolarik and Corder. There are several others who are very close. 2nd grade and 4th grade are also just a few dollars shy of also earning their grade level prize of a free period. So keep bringing in those donations until the 15th!!! Good luck East Elementary are you begin your collections!
