Thank you for your interest in the Wright City R-II School District. We believe our substitute teachers play an integral part in the continuing education of our students when the classroom teacher is absent. Our students deserve the best instructional leadership we can possibly find.

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requires all substitute teachers to have a minimum of 60 hours from an accredited college or a current Missouri teaching certificate. Substitute teachers will also be required to have an FBI fingerprint background check and child abuse/neglect check at the applicants expense. The results must be satisfactory to the District to be considered for employment.

All candidates shall be considered on the basis of their merits and qualifications and the needs of the school district. No person shall on the basis of sex, race, religion, national origin, marital status, age or disability that will not impair performance be excluded from participation in , be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in employment for recruitment, consideration, or selection, therefore, whether full-time of part-time, certificated or non certificated, under any educational program or activity operated by the District.

Effective immediately the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is processing all substitute teacher applications. Visit the DESE site at DESE.mo.gov to learn more about the substitute teacher application process.

We look forward to working with you in the future.
